About Car Wire
Car wire is the automotive loom — the harness cut out of a vehicle, complete with its connectors, tape and sheathing. It is a lower-recovery insulated grade because of how much non-metallic material comes with it.
Wreckers and mechanics bring it in by the bin. It is not worth stripping by hand: the conductors are thin and the connectors are moulded on, so the recovery is in the volume rather than the individual loom.
Where a loom has heavier battery cable attached, cutting that off and keeping it separate is worthwhile — battery cable is thick enough to grade well above harness wire.
