Scrap Batteries and Lead in Sydney

Lead comes to the yard in two forms: inside lead-acid batteries, and as solid lead, like roof flashing, sheet, pipe, wheel weights and ballast. We buy both, as two separate grades.

Both are dense, so a load that looks small weighs well on the scales. Both also need a little care on the way here.

Which grade is yours

  • Car, truck, forklift, boat or solar batteries

Lead-acid only, carried upright. Lithium-ion is not accepted.

  • Flashing, sheet, pipe, wheel weights, ballast

Clean solid lead, free of tar and iron. Painted sheet is fine.

Carrying it safely

Batteries travel upright and stay upright. A cracked case leaks sulphuric acid, and a leaking battery may not be accepted. Stand them in a plastic crate or tub rather than loose in a boot.

Lead itself is toxic. Wear gloves to handle it, wash your hands afterwards, and keep it away from children and food.

Lithium-ion batteries, from phones, power tools, e-bikes and home storage, are a fire risk in a scrap stream. Councils and most battery retailers run collection points for them.

Common questions

How much do you pay for scrap batteries and lead?
Batteries and solid lead are two grades with two rates, both bought by weight and both following the lead market. Call or WhatsApp for today’s rate.
Do you take truck and forklift batteries?
Yes. Lead-acid batteries from trucks, forklifts, boats and solar systems are bought with car batteries.
Can I bring batteries and lead flashing in the same trip?
Yes, but keep them apart. They are weighed and paid as separate grades.
Do you take wheel weights?
Yes, lead wheel weights are bought as soft lead. Some wheel weights are steel; a magnet sticks to those, and they are not lead.
