About Starter & Alternator
Starters and alternators are bought as their own automotive grade, on the copper winding inside them. They come out of every vehicle and are one of the more valuable single components a wrecker or mechanic accumulates.
They do not need to be dismantled. The copper is recovered mechanically, and pulling them apart by hand rarely improves the return.
Attached mounting brackets and pulleys can stay on. If you are stripping a vehicle, the loom, battery and radiator are all separate grades worth keeping apart.
