About Irony Aluminium
Irony aluminium is aluminium with enough steel attached that it cannot be graded clean — castings with bearings still in, frames with steel brackets, or mixed loads where separating is not practical.
It is bought at a discount that reflects the steel content, assessed on the load rather than a fixed formula. Nothing is wasted: it is worth bringing in rather than sending to landfill.
If you have time before you come, a magnet and a few minutes with a spanner is usually the best-paid work in the process — pulling steel out of a bin of irony aluminium can lift the whole load a grade.
