About Aluminium Rims
Aluminium rims — alloy wheels — are one of the cleanest aluminium grades there is, and one of the easiest for a seller to prepare well.
Two things make the difference to what you are paid. The tyre must be off: a wheel with rubber still on it is a different, much lower proposition, and tyre disposal is a cost we would have to carry. The wheel weights should come off too, since they are lead or steel and count against the aluminium weight.
Chrome-plated and painted rims are still accepted. Rims with steel inserts, or steel wheels painted to look like alloys, sit as irony aluminium instead — a magnet settles it in a second.
