About Cast Aluminium

Cast aluminium is the heavier, thicker aluminium produced by casting rather than rolling or extruding — gearbox and engine housings, pump bodies, cylinder heads, brackets and machine castings.

It usually arrives with steel in it. Bolts, studs, bearings and steel inserts are normal in castings, and a light strip of the obvious steel moves a load from irony aluminium into clean cast, which is a real difference in rate.

Oil and grease should be drained where practical. A gearbox case full of oil is a handling and environmental problem rather than a grading one, but it is the difference between a load we can take straight away and one we have to deal with first.
