Scrap Car Radiators

We buy car, truck and machinery radiators in three grades, and the grade depends on what the core and the tanks are made of. Copper-brass radiators grade highest, then AL/CU, then all-aluminium.

Look at the tanks at each end and the fins across the core, and you can tell which you have in a few seconds.

Car radiators and condensers sorted at the Ingleburn yard

Which radiator have you got?

  • Brass tanks on a copper core

Older cars, trucks, plant and generator sets. Heavy for its size.

  • Copper tubes through aluminium fins

Common in air conditioning condensers and some vehicles.

  • Aluminium core with plastic tanks

Most modern cars. The plastic tanks come off before you bring it.

Before you bring it

  1. 01Drain the coolant.
  2. 02Take off steel brackets, side frames and fan shrouds.
  3. 03On all-aluminium radiators, take the plastic end tanks off.
  4. 04Keep the three types apart. An aluminium radiator in a copper-brass load takes the load down a grade.
